Here is an interesting Article I came across recently. A vocally bumpy ride that opens up questions for debate. A great article for anyone interested in Adele’s story, and vocal function and pedagogy. I do necessarily subscribe to the idea of a teacher (or indeed a group of teachers) or an approach to voice training having the answers to all vocal problems. There paragraphs in the second half of the article that a lot of esteemed colleagues might claim to be underestimating the complexity of vocal function and health.
However, the article provides, a great insight to how the voice works, opens up questions about the ways we are currently approaching voice training, addresses long-term vocal sustainability, and tells a good story! Take a look and feel free to comment, ask questions or provide your own perspectives, opinions etc.
Bonus: Here is a great interview with Adele’s surgeon 😉
